cup head bolt technical drawing in millimeters

Cup Head Coach Carriage Bolts are for securing wood to wood or steel, along with a corresponding nut to firmly clamp the materials together. Featuring a low-profile domed head and a square section beneath, these bolts resist rotation when the nut is tightened or removed. As the nut on the opposite end tightens, the square section embeds into the wood, eliminating the need for a second wrench. Widely used in structural support, timber framing, outdoor furniture, fencing, and retaining walls, they're commonly found in garden bench and table furniture, supporting seat and back slats.

Material / Coating: Crafted from Marine Grade Stainless Steel A4-70 G316, these bolts offer unparalleled resistance to corrosion, making them ideal for marine, coastal, chemical, and food environments. While stainless steel fasteners are generally non-magnetic, some may exhibit slight magnetism due to work-hardening during manufacturing. Some of our stock features a smooth finish with no head markings, and upon request, Test Certificates or Certificate of Conformity can be provided.

Can Stainless corrode?: Although stainless steel boasts corrosion resistance, improper installation or handling can still lead to corrosion. Utilizing tools and drills made from conventional steel during installation may cause issues. Even the hardest tools can leave steel particles on stainless steel surfaces or in pre-drilled holes, which can rust when exposed to moisture or oxygen, resulting in a tarnished finish.

Grade v Class Difference: While metric fastenings are classified by classes, imperial fastenings are graded. Both typically feature head markings indicating grade or class. These markings denote the material and strength of the fastener.

Thread Pitch (Metric): Refers to the distance between the peaks of two threads along a screw, bolt, or fastener, expressed in millimeters (mm). For example, a thread pitch of 1.50mm indicates a 1.50mm distance between adjacent threads.

Fastener Length: Generally measured from the point where the material surface will be upon fastener installation to the end of the fastener. This measurement differs for fasteners with heads sitting above or flush with the surface.
