Discover the Versatility of Cup Head Coach Carriage Bolts:

Cup Head Coach Carriage Bolts are the go-to solution for securely fastening wood to wood or steel, ensuring a firm grip with a matching nut to bind materials together. Crafted with a low-profile domed head and a square section beneath, these bolts are engineered to resist turning when the nut is tightened or removed. The square section embeds into the wood as the nut is tightened, eliminating the need for a second spanner. Widely utilized in structural support, timber framing, outdoor furniture, fencing, and retaining walls, they are an ideal choice for various applications, including garden benches and table furniture.

Material and Coating:

Constructed from Marine Grade Stainless Steel A4-70 G316, these bolts offer unparalleled corrosion resistance, making them suitable for use in marine, coastal, chemical, and food environments. Stainless steel's inherent non-magnetic properties ensure reliability, although slight magnetism may occur due to work-hardening during manufacturing. For a sleek finish, some of our stock comes with a smooth surface and no head markings. Test Certificates or Certificate of Conformity can be requested upon need.

Understanding Stainless Corrosion:

While stainless steel is inherently corrosion-resistant, improper installation or handling may lead to corrosion. The use of conventional steel tools or drills during installation can introduce minute steel particles onto the stainless steel surfaces, leading to rust when exposed to moisture or oxygen. This may result in a stained or tarnished finish, emphasizing the importance of proper handling techniques.

Differentiating Grade vs. Class:

Metric fastenings are classified as classes, while imperial ones are graded. Head markings on stainless fasteners denote the material grade and strength. For instance, G304 grade stainless may be marked as A2-70, G304, A2, or 304, while G316 grade stainless may be marked as A4-70, G316, A4, or 316. Note that some sizes may lack head markings due to stock availability.

Precise Specifications and Measurements:

Efforts have been made to ensure accuracy in all measurements provided on our site. However, as our stock is sourced from various suppliers, variations may occur between batches, including differences in height, width, visible stamped markings, appearance, or finish. We recommend referring to the size and additional specifications data provided before ordering to ensure compatibility.
